My Top Five Plugins for SketchUp

While SketchUp has a ton of great in-built 3D modeler features that I cover in my SketchUp tutorials from PhotoMatch to Smooth surfaces, there are some really A-Rated plugins that you can get from the SketchUcation store and via the Extension Warehouse that I’ve compiled below that I know you’d appreciate. Some in this list are paid, but the free trial can get you information if you’d like to purchase.

Overall, SketchUp remains an intuitive leader and teaching SketchUp classes gives me a perspective to bring you a great list:

  1. VRay: While many competitors for renderer are out there, including some in this list, V-Ray remains the highest quality for realistic and fine tuned images. It may take time to reach expertise and come at a price tag, but this plugin has won me several projects and commission, so I call it worth every penny.

  2. Laubwerk Player: This plugin for V-Ray, that works with other rendering engines is great as it gives free samples of trees, greenery that can bring your scenes to life. You also can purchase other scene elements for a small price. The ease of populating and getting a great render is priceless from this plugin.
